RAW INTUITIVE

Museum of Naïve and Marginal Art invites you to participate in the international MNMA Triennial MNMU - RAW INTUITIVE
MNMA Triennial is an international exhibition which is organized by MNMA beginning in 2016 as the continuation of the Salon (1970-1980) and the Biennial (1981-2013) traditionally known MNMA events since 1970.
Submission material:
The photographs of 3 - 5 artworks realized in the last three years (2020-2022) and artistic biography, authors can submit no later than 20 June 2022 by e-mail: trijenale@mnmu.rs, or artists can bring their work, every working day from 8 am to 4 pm, to the Museum premises on the one of the following addresses:
- MNMA Nemanjina 3, 11000 Belgrade, or
- MNMA Boska Djuricica 10, 35000 Jagodina

The anniversary of Museum of Naïve and Marginal Art - MNMA
(1960-2020)
Dear colleagues,
Regarding to the anniversary of Museum of Naïve and Marginal Art -
MNMA (1960-2020), we organized a virtual visit to the current
contents of our museum:
Naive Art of Serbia (0: 00-6: 12) and part
of a permanent exhibition on the subject of
Outsider Art (6: 13-8:
35). The works represented are part of the rich international
collection that our museum inherits.
We inform you that Museum of Naive and Marginal Art will release
films from its production on its
YouTube channel every Friday at 5 p.m.

MNMA for the youngest – My first visit to museum
21 January 2020

Museum of Naïve and Marginal Art started 2020 year with a new
pedagogic activity – My first visit to museum, prepared for the
youngest visitors. On Tuesday 21 January, we organised creative
visit to our Museum for the children aged 2-7 years from the
preschool “Kids Club” in Jagodina. This activity included three
different sections that took two hours (9.00-11.00).

IN MEMORIAM
Roger Cardinal (1940-2019)

Roger Cardinal, the art critic and Professor Emeritus at
University of Kent (England), died on Friday, 1 November 2019 at the
age of 79.
He was the author of the book Outsider Art, published in 1972,
the first book on the topic of Art Brut ever published in England,
where the term “Outsider Art“ was introduced. Together with Victor
Musgrave he organised the first exhibition of the art of outsiders
at Hayward Gallery in London, in 1979. He wrote about the lives of
Outsider Art authors, the essays on architecture of Outsider Art,
the art of prisoners, autistic people etc. He was a co-author of the
Raw Vision Magazine and co-author of Raw Erotica (2013) together
with John Maizels and Colin Rhodes. He was a member of International
Jury of world artistic event Insita for many years, which was held
in Slovak National Gallery in Bratislava until 2010.

At the invitation of the Foundation Bussolera Branca, more
precisely Mr Fabio Cei, the president of the Foundation and director
of museum Casa dell’Art Brut in Mairano di Casteggio (Pavia), Nina
Krstić, director of Museum of Naïve and Marginal Art in Jagodina,
accepted the proposal for special kind of partnership of these two
similar institutions, concerning their successful and long
cooperation.

Turbulences on the Balkans

On 7 September 2017, in overcrowded Halle Saint Pierre, our
exhibition of paintings and sculptures of the artists from Serbia
entitled Turbulences on the Balkans opened; the exhibition was
organised by MNMA (Jagodina Serbia) and Halle Saint Pierre, Paris.
The representative collection of multi-lingual monographs and other
advertising material published by MNMA drew special attention of the
audience.

Outsider Fair in Paris

On Friday, 20th October MNMA organised presentation about works
of artists from Turbulences in Halle and promotion of advertising
material. As our guests: Marc Bourlier, sculptor from Paris and
Nadezda Musyankova (custos, Tretjakov gallery) takes part in
presentation of MNMA.

IN MEMORIAM
Milica Kosenko Maširević
Milica Maširević, aged 88, museum counsellor and
many-year director of Museum of Naïve and Marginal Art
died on Sunday, 24 March 2019.
She graduated from Faculty of Philosophy, Department of
History of Art in Belgrade in 1956. She worked at
Gallery of Self-taught Artists from its foundation in
1960. Milica Maširević, was a director of the
institution from 1963-1980. She organised more than a
hundred exhibitions of naïve art in the country and
abroad.
After she retired she did research in naïve art and art
reviews. She published more than 200 papers including:
Self-taught Artists in Serbia (co-authorship), 1977;
Monograph of Gallery of Self-taught Artists in Serbia
(co-authorship), 1979; A Shepherd Is Looking for the
Bottom of the Sky (co-authorship), 2001; Talks in the
Atelier, 2010; The Imaginative. Naïve Painters and
Sculptors of Serbia, 2017.

1941 - 2018

The painter Bibesco (Francesko Maria Masmata) died in
Genoa (Italy) on 31 August 2018. He was born in Genoa on
22 July 1941. He began doing painting in 1995. He had
solo and group exhibitions in his country and abroad. He
participated in the Nineteenth Colony of Naïve and
Marginal Art (2017), organised by MNMA (Jagodina,
Serbia). The greatest collection of his works is in
Genoa. MNMA has also some of his realisations.
