My first visit to museum

21 January 2020

Museum of Naïve and Marginal Art started 2020 year with a new pedagogic activity – My first visit to museum, prepared for the youngest visitors. On Tuesday 21 January, we organised creative visit to our Museum for the children aged 2-7 years from the preschool “Kids Club” in Jagodina. This activity included three different sections that took two hours (9.00-11.00).

The first section was conceptualised as acquaintance of children with basic museum terminology: museum, artist, painting and sculpture during the tour of permanent display with short and adapted story about MNMA and the displayed realisations. The stories were outlined on interactive relationship between the curator and children, with emphasis on their interests, questions and impressions.

The second section was realised as art workshop where the children drew the objects of their choice on paper. By allowing them to freely express themselves, the workshop and walk along permanent display additionally inspired their imagination to create. They put completed drawings into cardboard frames which that had previously made with their teachers at Nursery.

At the end we were watching the cartoon of choice at the MNMU Cinema Club. The idea of creating mini cinema inside MNMU was to give them opportunity to play and have fun beside just learning about art. The children responded positively to all the activities and participated in them through conversation, play and drawing.
